How to survive the Zombie Apocalypse

We’ve all seen the movies. One day everything is perfect and then the next moment even, everything is flipped upside-down. Zombies may not be the most realistic of threats, but they are still a possibility, so here are five easy ways to survive a zombie apocalypse.

  • Create an Emergency Kit. An emergency kit is an easy way to store food and supplies for taking on the go, or when you’re locked in your house until the emergency is over. Some of the most basic items you should have in your emergency kit are:
    • First aid supplies – you never know when you might get hurt.
    • Food and water – obviously nonperishables, but you should have plenty to last you and however many other people you have with you.
    • Important medications – yes, this should be with the first aid kit, but just in case you forgot them.
    • A flashlight and plenty of batteries – this one is pretty self explanatory.
    • A handheld or HAM radio – you never know if the phone lines are going to go down, so having a radio on you is a good idea.
  • Have a Plan. Not only with your loved ones, but for yourself. It’s always good to have a place to meet with those that you care about to make sure that they’re safe too. This also includes having a safe place where you can lie low until the danger is passed.
  • Know Your Survival Skills. You never know if you’ll need to escape into the wilderness to survive, so knowing some basic survival skills is always a good idea. Things like how to build a shelter, find food, and light a fire are good places to start.
  • Have an Evacuation Plan. Getting away from any danger anywhere is a big part of survival, and the zombie apocalypse is no different. The faster and more efficiently you can get out of danger if you need to, the better. This includes your city or your temporary shelter.
  • Find a Group. You’ve heard that there is safety in numbers, and that’s generally a good rule to live by, there’s more people to watch out for you, and it keeps everyone a little bit safer, but that also means that there are more people likely to leave you behind. If you are in a group, make sure that it’s a close-knit one, like your family or friends. This will ensure your mutual survival and there’s less of a chance that they’ll decide you aren’t worth supporting anymore.

If you have some common sense, a good survival kit, and some good instincts, you’ll survive just fine. Stay safe out there!
